Atletico Madrid on Wednesday confirmed the signing of Romanian international goalkeeper Horatiu Moldovan from Rapid Bucharest.

The Atletico website confirmed he has signed a contract for the rest of this season and three more years, until the end of June 2027.

The 26-year-old, who has played nine times for his country, had a medical test with the club on Tuesday and even trained with them at their Cerro de Espino training ground on Tuesday afternoon as they prepare for Thursday's Copa del Rey quarter-final at home to Sevilla.

The keeper was asked about his future on his arrival in Spain, saying the move was "a dream come true."

"I am really focused on what lies ahead," he added, before admitting it would not be easy to displace Jan Olbak to become first choice.

"He is probably the best keeper in the world and an example for children who play football," commented Moldovan.
