CBA: Liaoning bag 6th straight win, top Shenzhen in OT

CBA defending champions the Liaoning Flying Leopards extended their winning streak to six games after taking down the Shenzhen Aviators 123-119 during overtime on Wednesday.

Liaoning who had lost three out of the four games before the winning streak, got their second straight win on the road.

The two sides staged a tough game. Liaoning opened the match with an 11-0 run, and Shenzhen managed to fight back thanks to straight baskets from Jared Sullinger. The two teams tied to 93-93, while Liaoning delivered a 9-0 run afterward. Shenzhen shooter He Xining made his eighth three-pointer to level at 112-112 with two seconds left in regular time.

Liaoning failed to hit the buzzer-beater shot, and the game went into overtime.

Zhang Zhenlin made a free throw to help Liaoning lead by four points with eight seconds left in the overtime. Shenzhen veteran Gu Quan didn't make the shot beyond the arc. Liaoning finally brought home the thrilling win.

Liaoning scorer Kyle Fogg had 31 points for Liaoning. Fiver other Flying Leopards got double digits on scoring.

He got a game-high 32 points for Shenzhen.

Liaoning had as many as 57 rebounds, while Shenzhen only got 40.

"It's an extremely tough road trip against teams like Guangdong and Shenzhen," said Fogg. "Our coach had a great plan and we executed well to win the game."

Liaoning stayed on the second place on CBA standings after the victory.

Other action saw the Xinjiang Flying Tigers continue to stand on the top spot after beating the Zhejiang Golden Bulls 134-102.

Elsewhere, the Zhejiang Lions defeated the Beijing Ducks 92-83, the Nanjing Monkey Kings overwhelmed the Ningbo Rockets 119-90, the Shanxi Loongs edged the Shandong Heroes 92-88, the Beijing Royal Fighters outscored the Shanghai Sharks 120-111, and the Tianjin Pioneers brought down the Sichuan Blue Whales 112-98.
