When celebrations didn't seem to end after Leverkusen's victory in the German Cup quarterfinal against Stuttgart, former Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger addressed a sensitive topic.

Ahead of the Bundesliga's top game between Leverkusen and Bayern this Saturday, the 2014 world champion and TV pundit openly talked about his feelings that Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso will leave after this season.

"I know him, and I am sure his dream is to coach Liverpool," Schweinsteiger said. "I am sure he will leave Leverkusen in the summer."

Spanish media reports seem to fuel the speculations about the successor of departing Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp, saying there has been "a first contacting" by the Reds while investigating the Spaniard's plans.

In fact, the 42-year-old has an exit clause in his contract running until 2026 valid for Real Madrid, Bayern and Liverpool.

Liverpool has been the club of his first significant title such as the 2005 UEFA Champions League, besides his most spectacular career goal against Newcastle United from 55 meters.

The mysterious future of Alonso has not caused unrest in Leverkusen, who seems to enjoy one of the best flows in the club's history.

Amid growing speculations, the Spaniard is keeping calm and repeatedly talking about "the moment with our next game ahead."

Saturday's delicate clash against Bayern, who sits second with two points behind, is dominating the headlines.

With the excitement triggered by the German Cup victory, a draw is Leverkusen's minimum goal against an unsteady Bayern.

"Sometimes it's more important to be ready in your mind than in your legs. And at present our heads are strong," Alonso stated.

"We only think and talk about Bayern," he emphasized.

To win his first title as a coach might come near graduation for Alonso, empowering him to deal with bigger issues on the international stage.

When it comes to Leverkusen, leaving might make sense if it can end Bayern's national dominance after 11 consecutive championships. The club promised to accept any decision made by Alonso given his history-making achievements.
