Girona has rewarded goalkeeper Pablo Gazzaniga for his exceptional form this season with a two-year contract extension.
The Argentine, whose previous contract expired in June 2025, has agreed to extend his stay in the north-east corner of Spain until June 2027 to form part of a squad that will almost certainly play in Europe next season.
"I am very happy with the club and how it is growing and I am going to continue here until 2027, enjoying everything," said Gazzaniga on the Girona website.
The keeper originally arrived on loan from Fulham in 2022, and has been vital in a campaign which sees Girona currently sit in second place in La Liga.
"When I came here, I already knew that there was a great project, but I did not expect it to do as well as it is doing. Staying here is not a gamble, because everyone knew the club was going to grow a lot and that is what is happening."
"I am very happy with everything: you can see there is a great feeling in the squad and the key is the players in the dressing room, the companionship and the fact that we all work together," said the keeper.
A 4-0 defeat to Real Madrid last Saturday dented Girona's title hopes, but the keeper insisted that would not affect anything.
"We will finish where we deserve to finish, we are a team that take it game by game, but we are all happy here and you can see that on the pitch," he concluded.
