Inter Milan continued their impressive goalscoring spree, dismantling Atalanta with a 4-0 triumph in a postponed Serie A match on Wednesday.

Initially scheduled for January, the 21st-round game was deferred due to the Supercoppa held in Saudi Arabia, where Inter clinched their third consecutive title by edging Napoli 1-0.

Inter was in scintillating form by keeping a perfect record in 2024, having managed 10 victories on the bounce, including back-to-back 4-0 wins in the league before Wednesday.

Both sides had a goal disallowed in the opening minutes, before Inter took the lead in the 26th minute when Lautaro Martinez's through ball was parried into the path of Matteo Darmian, who slotted it into an empty net.

Lautaro saw his strike thump the bar in the 40th minute, but he eventually managed on target minutes later, curling it into the net on the edge of the box for his 23rd league goal of the season.

Lautaro should have bagged a brace in the 54th minute, but his spot-kick was denied while an alert Federico Dimarco tapped in the loose ball.

Inter rounded out the scoresheet in the 71st minute through two substitutes when Alexis Sanchez set up Davide Frattesi for a header, but the latter was then subbed off for precaution.

With the comfortable win, Inter cemented their first place with 69 points, 12 points ahead of second-placed Juventus.

In another rescheduled fixture, Napoli climbed out of an early hole to overturn Sassuolo 6-1, with Victor Osimhen completing a hat-trick and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia bagging a brace.
