Juventus' struggles persisted as they squandered a 2-1 lead to ultimately draw 2-2 with Atalanta in Serie A on Sunday, courtesy of Teun Koopmeiners' brace.

With only one victory in their last six matches, Juventus entered the Allianz Stadium match missing key players Dusan Vlahovic and Adrien Rabiot.

Despite a more assertive start, with efforts from Fabio Miretti and Federico Chiesa being denied by Atalanta's goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, it was the visitors who opened the scoring. Koopmeiners, linked with a summer move to Juve, found the net in the 35th minute following a cleverly executed free-kick.

Juve turned the game around four minutes later as Weston McKennie set up Andrea Cambiaso to drill home in the 66th minute, before the American provided another assist for Arkadiusz Milik to sweep in.

However, it was Koopmeiners' night as he ruined Juve's hopes five minutes later when the Dutchman ran onto Berat Djimsiti's pass to beat Wojciech Szczesny.

Elsewhere, AC Milan beat Empoli 1-0 thanks to Christian Pulisic's deflected attempt. The win saw the Rossoneri catapult themselves into second place with 59 points, dropping Juve to third, while Inter Milan are runaway leaders with 75 points.

Also on Sunday, Roma fought back twice to hold Fiorentina 2-2 with Diego Llorente grabbing a late equalizer, while Hellas Verona beat Lecce 1-0.
