La Liga side Sevilla on Wednesday officially presented Garcia Pimienta as their new head coach for the 2024-25 season.

A former FC Barcelona B-team coach, Garcia Pimienta joins Sevilla after leading Las Palmas to promotion to La Liga two seasons ago and keeping them in the top flight this season, despite a late flirtation with the bottom three.

He joins a club that has had a disappointing season, with three different coaches (Jose Luis Mendilibar, Diego Alonso and Quique Sanchez Flores) in a struggle to avoid relegation, which ended successfully, but with Sanchez Flores announcing he would not continue at the helm.

The club has also had economic problems and struggles at boardroom level, but speaking to the press, Garcia Pimienta expressed his satisfaction at arriving at the Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

"I am very happy. In our first contact, I saw the club was bigger than I imagined, and I am looking forward to starting work and getting to know the players," commented the coach, who added that he was optimistic about the future.

"I have come here to win and when we have defined the squad, we will try to play the best possible football so that the fans can feel proud of the team and the identity these players transmit," added Garcia Pimienta, who tried to implement a possession-based, passing game at his former club.

"I like a certain way of playing, but the most important thing is to win," he explained.
