Real Sociedad has signed left-back Javi Lopez from Alaves for 6.5 million euros (7.1 million dollars) on a contract until June 2030.
"Real Sociedad and Deportivo Alaves have reached agreement for the transfer of Javi Lopez," read a Real Sociedad statement.
Lopez becomes Real Sociedad's second signing of the summer after Sergio Gomez (from Manchester City), who is currently with Spain's national team to compete at the Paris Olympic Games.
The 22-year-old was born in Tenerife and joined the Alaves youth system at 15, making his first-team debut three years later.
He played a big role as Alaves enjoyed a successful return to La Liga last season, making 32 league appearances, and he played 92 times for the Vitoria outfit, but rejected offers of a new contract, leaving Alaves forced to sell or risk losing him for nothing next summer.
Real Sociedad finished sixth in La Liga last season and need to strengthen their left-hand side after Aihen Munoz suffered a long-term knee injury, while Javi Galan and Kieran Tierney have left the club after the end of their loan deals.
