Twice world champion Ding Ning of China made short work of Germany's defensive paddler Han Ying on Tuesday and set to face another chopper Kim Song I next in the women's singles semifinals of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

The top seeded world No. 2 won 11-8, 11-5, 11-3, 11-7 over the 33-year-old Han, a former Chinese who moved to Germany to play for club TV Busenbach and made her debut for the European powerhouses in 2011.

Ding's semifinal opponent will be DPR Korea's Kim, a defensive player who's ranked only the 50th since she attended far more less matches on international stage.

Earlier on Tuesday, Kim rallied past Singapore's Yu Mengyu 11-8, 6-11, 11-5, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6 to make the semis, adding another credit to herself after the 21-year-old upset top Japanese paddler Kasumi Ishikawa 4-3 in the third round.
