Australian Open: Zheng, Yan Reach Semis

Zheng Jie and Yan Zi, 12th seed pair, saved two match points en route to topple Virginia Ruano Pascual of Spain and Paola Suarezformer of Argentina, 4th seed pair, to reach the semifinals of women's doubles at Australian Open today.

The Chinese pair will meet Shinobu Asagoe of Japan and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia, the 9th seed pair in the semi-final.

Zheng Jie and Yan Zi, the last Chinese pair playing at the Australian Open, smashed their European counterparts, the eight Grand Slam winners by 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.

This is by far Chinese doubles players' best record at the Australian Open.

Zheng and Yan rallied from one set behind and saved two match points in the second set to topple the European pair.
