The Fengtai Softball Field, still under construction, will be the first Beijing Olympic venue to be put into use, hosting World Championship in August.

 

The news was announced by the Beijing organizers of the upcoming International Softball Federation Women's World Championship.

 

The field, in the southern suburban of Beijing, is expected to be completed by early July, nearly two months ahead of the opening of the World Championship, scheduled to take place August 27 through September 2.

 

The field will comprise a main competition field with a capacity of 10 thousand seats and a sub-competition field of 3500 seats.

 

New environmental-friendly and energy-saving technologies have been introduced into the facility's construction.

 

To better facilitate the ISF Women's Softball Championship, the Fengtai district government has also embarked on infrastructure renovation.
