Soccer: Shandong Continues CSL Lead

League leaders Shandong Luneng smashed Wuhan Guanggu 5-1 overnight to grab their seventh straight win in CSL and left the chasing pack 13 points behind them.

Bulgarian defender Predrag Pajin of Shandong opened the slaughter by scoring a long shoot 18 minutes into the game and ended it with a freekick in the 65th minute. His teammate Li Jinyu powered a head into the net in the second half, adding his league goal to 18, and continues leading the top scorer chart.

Beijing Hyundai overcame Shenyang Jinde 1-0 to rise to the second place in the league. Young midfield Yan Xiangchuang scored the only goal of the match for the capital side.

Defending champion Dalian Shide came back from a one-goal halftime stray-behind in the clash against Qingdao Zhongneng with the help of the opponent captain Liu Junwei. Defender Liu scored a own goal in the 55th minute to level the score before Dalian's Zhu Ting and Zhao Xuri scored to seal the victory 3-1.

In the other two games held on Wednesday night, Shanghai Shenhua won 1:0 over Shenzhen Kingway by a penalty and Liaoning drew with Xiamen Lanshi 0:0.
