Qu Banned for Two Matches

Adelaide United import Qu Shengqing has been given a two-match suspension for head-butting after appearing at a Football Federation Australia disciplinary hearing in Sydney on Wednesday night.

The former Chinese international received an automatic one-match penalty after being sent off following an incident involving Queensland Roar captain Chad Gibson during last Friday night's 0-0 draw at Lang Park.

Qu also received an additional one-match sanction.

Adelaide United chief executive Michael Petrillo said Qu had accepted the verdict and regretted his actions.

"He's extremely remorseful, in particular because he's felt he's let his team-mates down," he said.

"At a time when we may be without Fernando, it's probably come at the most awkward time possible."

Qu will miss United's upcoming fixtures against Sydney FC and Central Coast Mariners.
