CFA Appoints Foreign Coach for Olympics Team
Adjust font size:
The Chinese Football Association (CFA) has named former Ghana boss Ratomir Dujkovic as head coach of the 08 Olympics team.

Dujkovic, who led the African nation at the 2006 World Cup, is expected to put pen to paper when he arrives in Beijing on 20 October. He will then fly to Tokyo for a friendly international between China and Japan, though it is not know if he will sit on the bench or in the stands.

After the Japan game, China's Olympics team will play two more friendlies, against Cameroon on 1 November and Indonesia on 5 November.

The details of Dujkovic's contract are yet to be revealed, as the CFA's decision still needs approval from the National Sports Bureau. It has, however, been reported that the Serb coach's agreement to a deal worth €300,000 per year plus his experience with youth teams were two decisive aspects in his appointment.

On learning of the CFA's decision, Dujkovic said: "I am very pleased and I really appreciate the efforts made by other Serb coaches in China. They have helped build a very good reputation. I know Tumbakovic, who led Shandong to the league title. He is a great coach. After my arrival in China I will continue to communicate with these coaches to learn more about China and Chinese football."
