Chinese Taipei's Lin Wen-tang fired an eight-under 64 for the clubhouse lead at the weather-disrupted Pertamina Indonesia President Invitational in Jakarta yesterday.

Lin recorded an eagle at the par five 13th hole along with seven birdies against a lone bogey for a three stroke advantage over the field after the first round at Damai Indah Golf and Country Club.

South Korea's Lee Sung posted a 67 to tie for second place alongside former Asian Tour No. 1 Thaworn Wiratchant of Thailand, Australia's Brad Kennedy and American Anthony Kang in the US$400,000 event.

Malaysia's M. Sasidaran had a steady start with six birdies against two bogeys for a 68 and was in the mix in joint sixth place with India's Gaganjeet Bhullar, who finished runner-up last year.

Thailand's Pravit Tangkamonprasert was two under after 15 holes before play was suspended at 5:20pm due to lightning.

Lin said it was a tip from his brother that helped him roll the ball better on the greens.

"I made 25 putts today which is great and a big relief compared to last week when I wasn't that steady and passed out due to dehydration," Lin said. "My brother gave me a useful tip on Tuesday. He told me to use a faster motion while putting so I won't lose my line on the green, which I did and it paid off.

"My driving and iron play was steady as well so I'm very pleased to have put the drama of last week behind me," the 34-year-old added.

Thailand's Thaworn, with a record 10 Asian Tour titles under his belt, took advantage of the calm conditions in the morning for a 67.

"I was a bit lucky today as I found the rough a few times but got out of trouble easily," said Thaworn. "The long hitters should have an advantage if the wind is blowing in their favor but the conditions were quite calm this morning which helped."

Competing in his seventh Asian Tour event this season, Australia's Kennedy was pleased to get off to a solid start this week.

"My form is alright but I've not been playing in too many events this year so I'm happy with my opening round performance."
