Luciano Spalletti, born in 1959, is a retired Italian footballer whose early career in management began in 1995 at a struggling Empoli, where he led the Tuscan side to two consecutive promotions from Serie C1 to Serie A. However, it was at Udinese where he really began to make an impact as a manager. From 2005, Spalletti became a manager of Roma, leading them to the second place of Coppa Italia in 2007 and 2008 and the winner of Supercoppa Italiana in 2007. In December 2009, Spalletti joined Zenit St. Petersburg and guided them to win the Russian Cup and the Russian Premier League in 2010.
