Wonder Woman #1 comes out swinging and never lets up. It is perhaps the most visceral of the New 52, with a frenzied, nightmarish story that borders on fitting as much into the horror-comic genre as the superhero genre. But I'd expect no less from Brian Azzarello, and this is a mind-bending blend of magic, mayhem, and martial skills by a Wonder Woman with a capital Warrior. The art by Cliff Chiang so perfectly fits this book, it's one of the examples where story and art blend perfectly for the exact right combination to present this new introduction to a classic, powerful character. I like the rawness and sheer insanity of this book, presenting the crossroads of reality and mythology not as some nobel and happy revelation to mankind, but rather as crazed and plagued by incomprehensible brutality. Oh, and Wonder Woman's new suit is one of the redesigns that works best, not too busy and doing something very original while not forsaking faithfulness to the classic design.
