China (Changchun) International Auto Expo
The China (Changchun) International Auto Expo is an influential auto show in northwest China, likely due to the host city being home to First Auto Works, China's biggest auto manufacturer.
Originally held biennially in Jilin Province's capital Changchun since its inception in 1999, the show became an annual event starting in 2010. In 2006, it became the second Chinese auto show approved by the Union of International Fairs, after Auto Shanghai.
Changchun is well known for its nickname "China's Detroit," producing 9 percent of the country's automobiles in 2009.
The China (Changchun) International Auto Expo 2012 is slated to open at Changchun's International Convention & Exhibition Center on July 15.
