Yang Yuanqing is the chairman and CEO of Lenovo, the world's third-largest PC maker behind Hewlett-Packard and Dell. After graduating with a MA in computer science from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1988, Yang joined Legend, the predecessor of Lenovo, as a salesman. There, he built a solid professional record and was promoted to CEO in 2001.
Yang is best-known for beating all rivals at home and abroad to turn Lenovo into the best-selling PC brand in the country over the past 15 years. His success in acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005 helped the group to become an even more powerful international player in the IT industry. In 2010, Lenovo posted a 30 percent surge in its revenues to US$ 21.6 billion, with the net profits going up 112 percent to US$273 million.
