Chongqing University (CQU) is a national key university in China, directly under the Ministry of Education. It is located in Shapingba District, a cultural and educational center in Chongqing. Founded in 1929, CQU had already become a famous national university early in the 1940s, comprising such disciplinary fields as science, technology, liberal arts, law, economics and medicine. In 2000, the university merged Chongqing Jianzhu University and Chongqing Architectural College. Presently, it offers 88 undergraduate programs, 199 masters' programs and 133 doctoral programs in 27 academic schools.
