China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) was ranked 78th in 2009 with a score of 32.77. In that year, only 16.38 percent of the postgraduate tutors were female while and 83.62 percent were male. The female ratio was 2.09 percentage points higher than in 2005, when the university was ranked 75th in this respect.

Located in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, CUMT is a leading multi-disciplinary polytechnic university with mining features in China. It was originally founded in 1909 as Jiaozuo School of Railroad and Mines. Presently, CUMT's teaching faculty numbers 1,700, of which 478 are associate professors and 317 are full professors. It has 651 master's supervisors and 273 PhD supervisors.
