Chongqing University (CQU) with a score of 31.6, was ranked 79th in 2009 with a score of 31.6. In that year, only 15.8 percent of postgraduate tutors were female while 84.2 percent were males. The female ratio was only 0.65 percentage points higher than in2005, when the university was ranked 70th in this respect.

CQU is located in Shapingba District, a cultural and educational center in Chongqing. Founded in 1929, CQU was regarded as a renowned national university in the early 1940s. Presently, its full-time teaching staff numbers in excess of 3,000, of whom 501 are full professors and 945 are associate professors. It has more than 400 doctoral supervisors.
