Nanjing University of Science & Technology (NUST) was ranked 80th in 2009 with a score of 31.01. In that year, only 15.51 percent of postgraduate tutors were female while 84.49 percent were male. The female ratio was 4.12 percentage points higher than in 2005 when the university was ranked 82nd in this respect.
Located in Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu Province, NUST, founded in 1953, is a national key university derived from the Institute of Military Engineering of the PLA, the highest institution of military technology in China. Presently, the university's teaching faculty numbers 1,736, of which, 597 are associate professors and 366 are full professors. It has 268 doctoral supervisors.
