AskMen.com has done a roundup of the "Top 99 Most Desirable Women of 2012," and the results include an international hit list voted on by more than one million readers. This year, Sofia Vergara seized the crown, followed by Kate Upton and Rooney Mara.

Here are the site's top 50 picks:

  Carey Mulligan

Her questionable decision to date Shia LaBeouf aside, the Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps actress is the very definition of adorable, with her pixie haircut and cute smile. After charming the pants off of Ryan Gosling in Drive, Carey Mulligan ditched the whole cute and adorable thing (along with all of her clothes) for the controversial film Shame. But that out-of-character performance (and her recent engagement) doesn't change our opinion of the British actress one bit. She's still an indie dream girl, and we'd do just about anything for a chance at a slow-mo elevator make-out session with her.

  Penelope Cruz

Once known for steam-rolling through some of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors, this Oscar-winning Spanish enchantress is now a mother. But don't count on this newfound domesticity (Cruz is married to fellow Spaniard and all-around badass Javier Bardem) to slow her down, because true international sex symbols have a way of making everything titillating -- even changing diapers. Just ask Woody Allen, who once said, "I don't like to look at Penelope directly. It is too overwhelming." We couldn't agree more.
