Italian footballer Gianluigi Buffon currently plays as a goalkeeper for Juventus and the Italian national team. Starting his career in the youth system of Parma in 1991 when he was 13, Buffon is now considered one of the best-ever goalkeepers in the sport. He himself is legendary for his amazing capabilities in making successful saves which often change the fate of his team.
Buffon was transferred from Parma to Juventus in the summer of 2001 for a transfer fee of £32.6 million (€39.45 million), making him the most expensive goalkeeper in the world. He won the FIFA World Cup in 2006. He was named the Series A Goalkeeper of the Year eight times and the IFFHS World's Best Goalkeeper in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, as well as that of the 21st Century in 2012.
