Robin Li, the chairman and CEO of China's top Internet search website Baidu, took the top spot of the 2012 best CEOs of China, according to the latest list published in June by Forbes China.

This is the first time that Forbes has made comprehensive ranking of CEOs of Chinese listed companies, of which one is listed on the NASDAQ (US), 14 were listed in Hong Kong and 15 were listed in Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges.

The list focuses on the companies that went public before May 1, 2009 and have retained the same CEOs for the lastest three financial years. The survey ranks CEO performance relative to compensation, and also compares CEOs' compensation to their management performance and their companies' market capitalization.

The average compensation of these CEOs in 2011 was 8.3 million yuan (US$1.3 million). Except Robin Li, who's salary was not disclosed, Yang Yuanqing, CEO of Lenovo Group has 89.59 million yuan (US$14.07 million), was the highest-paid among all CEOs in China.
