Three well-known Chinese historical attractions have made it into the top 10 greatest wonders of the world according to the Daily Mail on Mar. 27.
10 natural and historical wonders were chosen from the top 50 must-see world wonders as revealed by Lonely Planet, the biggest travel guide book publisher in the world.
The attractions featured on the list are the most popular and unique spots in the world. No matter whether it concerns spectacular waterfalls or plunging valleys or solemn palaces, all are proof of the hard work and wisdom of people, as well as of the gifts of nature.

Potala Palace |
Perched on top of Hongshan Mountain in the center of Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, at 3,650 meters above sea level, Potala Palace was first built in 641 by the Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo to greet his bride Princess Wencheng of the Tang Dynasty (618-907). It is a 13-story palatial architecture that is 110 meters tall. The palace also collected a large number of sculptures, murals, scriptures and other valuable cultural relics. Moreover, it is a famous Buddhist holy attraction and countless Tibetan Buddhist followers will gather at Potala Palace during festivals.
