Yang Huiyan

Yang Huiyan became the richest person on the Chinese mainland after the IPO of her family's company 'Country Garden'. She is the second daughter of farmer-turned-developer Yang Guoqiang, founding Country Garden in 1997 and managing a number of businesses such as property development and running hotels. He sent Yang Huiyan to an American university to prepare her to take over his company. In 2005, he handed over 70 percent of the shares in Country Garden to his daughter's company, before its IPO. And when Country Garden was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2007, Yang's wealth shot up. She married in 2007.
