Hong Kong topped the 2014 Top 100 City Destinations Ranking recently released by Euromonitor International, a London-based market intelligence firm.

The city welcomed 25.6 million international tourists in 2013, up 7.6 percent from 2012. It's followed by Singapore (with 22.5 million) and Bangkok (with 17.5 million).

Six of the top ten most-visited cities in the world are from Asia, with Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok continuing to occupy the top three spots on the list, which evaluates travel trends in 100 of the world's leading cities in terms of international tourist arrivals.

More than one-third of the 100 destination cities are from the Asia-Pacific region, and 10 Chinese cities made their way onto the list: Hong Kong (1st), Shenzhen (8th, 11.7 million visitors), Guangzhou (16th, 7.6 million), Taipei (19th, 6.7 million), Shanghai (22nd, 6.1 million), Beijing (34th, 4.5 million), Hangzhou (51st, 3.2 million), Zhuhai (58th, 2.9 million), Suzhou (67th, 2.6 million) and Guilin (90th, 1.9 million),

The latest United Nations World Tourism Organization's World Tourism Barometer indicates that international tourist arrivals increased by 4.7 percent to 1.14 billion in 2014.
