The weekly magazine U.S. News & World Report recently published a list of the Best Countries based on their global performance.

It evaluated a total of 80 countries – up from 60 when the rankings began – drawing on a survey of more than 21,000 individuals from 36 countries.

A set of 65 attributes to describe a country and also relevant to the success of a modern nation were identified. The attributes were grouped into nine sub-rankings including adventure, citizenship, cultural Influence, entrepreneurship, heritage, movers, open for business, power and quality of life.

Switzerland, which joined the ranking system for the first time, was the winner for its high scores in citizenship, entrepreneurship, open for business and quality of life.

Canada took the second place, followed by the United Kingdom. China ranked the 20th.

Citizenship: 10

Cultural Influence: 3.8

Entrepreneurship: 7.3

Heritage: 2.6

Movers: 3.2

Open for business: 8.3

Power: 1.5

Quality of life: 9.3
