On July 26, China's Zhang Yufei claimed the silver medal in the women's 100m butterfly final with a time of 55.64 seconds, only 0.05 seconds behind the Canadian gold medalist.

The 23-year-old has become China's rising butterfly queen after she claimed her first Olympic gold on July 29 in Tokyo in 2:03.86 in the women's 200m butterfly, slicing 0.2 seconds off the Olympic record set by China's Jiao Liuyang at the London Olympics in 2012.

On the same day, Zhang and her young teammates Yang Junxuan, Tang Muhan and Li Bingjie broke the world record to win the women's 4x200m freestyle relay at the Tokyo Olympics.
