The action-packed blockbuster "Bodyguards and Assassins" was directed by Teddy Chan and featured an all-star cast including Donnie Yen, Leon Lai, and Nicholas Tse. It tells the story of a group of bodyguards who protect Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the forerunner of the Chinese Democratic Revolution, from assassins in 1905 Hong Kong. The crew replicated a mammoth set of early 20th century downtown Hong Kong to add an extra layer of authenticity. The cast performed their best, while action sequences were well designed and executed. But this is not just a good-looking action movie; it has a lofty spirit, which also embodies the Hong Kong people's affinity with the mainland.
