Rising star Jeremy Shu-How Lin is the first Chinese-American basketball player to play for the NBA. Lin, also the first Harvard student to enter the NBA since 1953, currently plays for the Houston Rockets under a three-year contract worth US$25 million.

Lin swept through the early 2012 season of the NBA with his stunningly fast rise from an about-to-be-cut-from-his-third-team player to the leading point guard for the New York Knicks. He scored 136 points in his first five career starts, the most of any NBA player in the league since 1974. He was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week after his sensational first week as an NBA starter in February 2012.

After his breakout start in 2012, Li generated a global following known as Linsanity, yet the young man didn't become an international superstar overnight. After years of hard work, and being waivered by the Golden State Warriors and the Rockets, Lin finally seized the opportunity which began his monumental rise.

In April 2012, Lin was named to Time Magazine's 2012 list of the Top 100 Most Influential People in the World. In June 2012, NBA TV announced that Lin was the first-ever winner of the "Social Breakout Player of the Year" Award.
