Big crab feast comes in September

As the saying goes, "When autumn wind blows and chrysanthemums blossom, crabs will grow plump and prime". Indeed, autumn is a perfect season to enjoy yummy crabs. To taste the local gourmet is a must when travelling. Visitors who travel to the following places in September should not miss the crab feast.

Yangcheng Lake mitten crab, Suzhou

Located about three kilometers northeast of Suzhou city, the Yangcheng Lake is a freshwater lake well known for one of its aquatic produces – Da Zha Xie, a Chinese mitten crab. The Chinese mitten crabs migrate from Yangcheng Lake towards the Yangtze delta for mating in September and October. The migration is the harvest time of this aquatic animal. Bred in pollution-free freshwater, Yangcheng Lake mitten crab is famous for the good quality, unique taste and rich nutrition.

Travel tips to Yangcheng Lake:

Address: Yangcheng Lake, Bacheng Town, Kunshan, Suzhou, Jiangsu

Admission free

Opening hours: 8:00 am - 11:00 pm (Monday to Friday); 9:00 am - 10:00 pm (Saturday to Sunday)

Transportation: take Bus No. 107 at Kunshan Railway Station

Visitors can also taste the Yangcheng Lake crabs in Suzhou and Hangzhou. From September to October, the travel agencies of these two cities will introduce the service of "tasting the authentic Yangcheng Lake crabs" in the tours.
