Steamed dumplings stuffed with crabmeat, Shanghai

Some people say that the Town God's Temple is a must when visiting Shanghai, and the steamed dumplings stuffed with crabmeat is a must try when visiting the Town God's Temple. As one of the five famous snacks in China, the dumpling has a history of several hundred years. It is famous for the unique cooking way, beautiful shape and special ways of eating.

One popular and commonly seen filling is pork with minced crab meat and roe. The characteristic soup inside is the fresh chicken soup. Eaters are suggested to use a straw to suck the fresh soup and then taste the buns. The buns are served hot in the bamboo baskets, in which they were steamed, usually on a bed of dried leaves.
