Hong'an County - 'a county of generals'

Hong'an County, sacred to the Chinese revolution, has become a hot tourist destination in Hubei Province. The poor county is known as 'a county of generals' for its contribution of 223 PLA generals in the past 80 years. Two past leaders of the People's Republic of China, Dong Biwu and Li Xiannian, were also born in the county. More than 140,000 Hong'an residents who joined the Red Army were reported to have died from 1923 to 1949 helping establish the People's Republic of China. [China.org.cn]
