China's Palace Museum, or Forbidden City, is home to a sound number of stray cats. So far, the museum has spent nearly 20,000 yuan on the sterilization of the 181 stray cats living there. The staff got to know each cat well and have given them different names. The staff said that some of these cats may be the offspring of the royal cats raised by emperors and their concubines in ancient times. They also play an important part in rodent control.
