Cape Eluanbi is the southernmost point of Taiwan island. On it stands a lighthouse which is called the "Light of East Asia."

Built between the Pacific Ocean and the Taiwan Strait during the Qing Dynasty in 1888, the Eluanbi lighthouse shines the strongest and most intense light among all the lighthouses in Taiwan. Today, the lighthouse serves not only as a guide for maritime navigation but also a landmark sightseeing spot.

Rising 24 meters, the lighthouse is painted all white, creating a postcard vista against a backdrop of blue sky. It is open year-round for visitors to enjoy a splendid panorama from its top.[Photo/bbs.fengniao]
