A Chinese geological expedition team recently discovered more than 300 square kilometers of Cretaceous Danxia landscape at the upstream Lancang River in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in northwest China's Qinghai province. According to Yang Yong, chief scientist in charge of the geological expedition, it may be formed by the thick red conglomerate through long-term weathering and water erosion. (CNS/Zhang Tianfu)
