Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, also known as Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, is located in southwestern Sichuan province, bordering Gansu to the north and northeast and Qinghai to the northwest. There are many places of interest in the region. A few are: Wolong National Nature Reserve in Wenchuan County, which is a reserve for giant pandas; Kirti Gompa, Nangzhik Gompa monastery, an area of both scenic and historic interest in Songpan County; and Jiuzhaigou, a nature reserve in Jiuzhaigou County known for its many waterfalls and colorful lakes.
