The 8th Qiqiao Girls' Festival kicks off in Xihe County of Longnan City in western China's Gansu Province on August 3. From July 1 to 7 of China's lunar calendar, the festival is celebrated by praying to deities for wisdom, ingenuity and happiness among females. The customs of the traditional Qiqiao Festival, including the site selection for the ceremony, greeting and worshiping the deity Girl Weaver, entertaining, divining and seeing off Girl Weaver, were all showcased during the performance at the opening ceremony.
