Set amid spectacular mountain scenery on the Ngong Ping plateau on Lantau Island in Hong Kong, Po Lin Monastery is a top destination for tourists to experience a natural and cultural side of Hong Kong.
The Monastery was initially a small temple built by three monks. Over the years, it becomes one of the must-see destinations for visitors to Hong Kong. There, tourists can find various figures of deities and other colorful demonstrations of aspects of the Buddhist religion.
Located on the peak of the Muyu Mountain, the Tian Tan Big Buddha – a giant Buddha statue, was unveiled in December 1993 amid deeply religious ceremonies. It is the world's largest outdoor Buddha.[China.org.cn]
