A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Wednesday called on Taiwan to reflect on multiple recent tourism accidents and take effective measures to enhance safety management and remove safety hazards.

"We are deeply concerned about the string of tourism accidents in Taiwan," said An Fengshan, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, at a press conference.

Taiwan should ensure the safety and property of tourists and provide them better travelling conditions, An added.

On Feb. 13, a tour bus overturned in Taipei and left 33 Taiwan people dead and 12 injured. On Feb. 4, 21 tourists from the Chinese mainland were injured in a bus accident in Kaohsiung City in southern Taiwan. On Feb. 17, heavy smoke arose from the tail of a bus carrying mainland tourists, but did not result in any casualties.
