The Yangguan Pass scenic spot in Dunhuang City, Northwest China’s Gansu Province. Yangguan Pass, known as a defense line along the Great Wall, is famous also for Tang Dynasty (618 - 907) poet Wang Wei’s lines - 'Oh, my friend, I sincerely entreat you to have another cup of wine; you will see no more friends west out of the Yangguan Pass'. It was a stronghold built on the west border during the West Han Dynasty (206BC – 24AD) and a trading gateway on the ancient Silk Road trade route. (Photo: China News Service/Wang Binyin)
