An ice and snow Naadam fair is to set off in Hulunbuir grassland, one of China's famous grasslands, located in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, a local sports official said on Wednesday.

A series of events will be organized during the fair, including horse racing, wrestling, archery, ice hockey, skiing and snow motorbike, said Liu Zhaokui, director of the local sports bureau.

Ethnic elements will be woven into the events, during which the local ethnic minorities plan to showcase their culture through activities, performances and costumes, Liu added.

Preparations had been underway early this month and the fair will continue to March, covering the New Year, the Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival.

A bunch of activities are slated during the fair for visitors, who will enjoy snow views, horse riding and skiing cart by camel, traditional folk songs and performances as well as campfires.
