Gourmet festival in Yanqing marks countdown to 2019 Horticultural Expo

The "Expo Flower Feast" gourmet festival was held yesterday in Yanqing, in the northwestern outskirts of Beijing, to kick off a one-year countdown leading up to the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Expo. 


The festival showcased 30 kinds of savory specialty dishes from Yanqing. In addition to the gourmet food, a selection of local handicrafts and agricultural products were on offer at a fair.


Yanqing, set as the venue for the 2019 Beijing Horticultural Expo, is known for its landscapes and natural tourism sites, including the Badaling Great Wall and the summer resorts of Longqing Gorge and Yudu Mountain.


According to data from the Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition Coordination Bureau yesterday, 93 countries and international organizations, including Russia, Germany, Britain and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, have confirmed attendance to the expo next year.
