Legends of Juyongguan road in Qingdao

Locating in Badaguan area, Juyongguan road is famous for a princess house and its legendary story.

It's said that a prince of Denmark was fascinated with the beautiful scenery here when he traveled in Qingdao in 1932. Hence the prince asked the local consul to purchase a land and build up a house according to a fairytale and sent it to the princess for vocation. All the introductions on this house quote this legend but regretfully no evidence could approve it.

Built up in 1940, the princess house shows typical architectural style of Denmark. With concise designs and fine decorations, it has delicate rooms and great views. Standing on the lawn, the house is elegant and charming.

Despite of the princess house, some other renowned places also locate in Juyongguan road. The No.9 was a sanatorium that famous scholar Gu Jiegang and movie star Bai Yang used to live here. The No.14 was an American style house, where a TV series about Song Qingling took this place as its main background.

As winter comes, the ginkgoes along the street turn their leaves to a golden color and attract many visitors and photographers. [China.org.cn/Photo by Liu Jie]
