The 33rd Ice Lantern Festival kicked off at the Longqing Gorge scenic spot, northwestern Beijing's Yanqing County, on January 20, and will run until the end of February. The theme for this year's festival is the Beijing Horticultural Expo, which will be held in Yanqing in April.

As a time-honored brand, the Ice Lantern Festival showcases art, wisdom and creativity through its magnificent snow sculptures, glittering and translucent ice lanterns, modern LED light show and trees decorated by colorful neon lights.

In addition to the ice lanterns, visitor could also enjoy snow and ice slides at the scenic spot.

Yanqing's Ice Lantern Festival draws visitors from near and far and adds a festive beauty to the Chinese Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival — the most important festival of the Chinese calendar. The Spring Festival falls on February 5 this year.
