A traditional local performance was staged yesterday in Yanqing, northwestern Beijing, to celebrate the Lantern Festival, which fell this year on Feb. 19. This day marks the 15th day of the first lunar month and also signifies the end of the Spring Festival.

Performances such as the dragon dance, lion dance, land boat dance, Yangko dance, and drum ensemble attracted local residents and tourists from the area. This year's performance also featured themes related to the Beijing Horticultural Expo and Winter Olympics, as Yanqing will host these two major events this April and in 2022, respectively.

Other activities were held in Yanqing's townships, including Kangzhuang village, where people hung lanterns in the streets and guessed riddles during the festival.
