The 2020 Cultural Tourism Industry Forum and Exhibition of Achievements kicked off Friday in the city of Chongzuo, southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

With the purpose of "achieving common development through cooperation,"the forum aimed to provide enterprises in the tourism industry with opportunities for mutual learning, displaying their achievements and increasing collaboration, so as to promote the revival of the industry and domestic circulation.

At the opening ceremony, He Liangjun, mayor of Chongzuo, stated that as a frontier city in China's cooperation with ASEAN, Chongzuo is endowed with abundant cultural tourism resources.

He expressed his hope that the forum can serve as a platform for cultural tourism professionals and practitioners both from the city and elsewhere to exchange views and secure collaboration. Such action should help promote the industry's recovery from the shock of COVID-19and thereby boost economic growth.

Wu Xiaomei, deputy secretary general of China Tourism Association, stressed that despite the shadow cast by the pandemic this year, the recovery of the domestic tourism market has been signaled with the advancement of mass tourism in China. "Local tourists are full of confidence and hope for domestic tourism," Wu said.

Chongzuo is a significant city along the southbound passage of the Belt and Road route, brimming with both natural and cultural attractions.

Chongzuo has set up a special fund of 1 billion yuan to improve the development of its scenic spots and accelerate the building of cultural tourism brands. For example, the city's Detian Waterfall—Asia's largest transnational waterfall, stretching across the border of China and Vietnam— has been developed into a 5A tourist attraction. Meanwhile, the city's Zuojiang Huashan rock-art cultural landscape was added to the World Heritage List in 2016.

Various cultural and creative products are being showcased as part of the exhibition of achievements, alongside goods related to the local heritage and specialty foods from various cities and provinces, appealing to the wide range of visitors.

Co-hosted by China Tourism Association and the Chongzuo municipal government, the forum attracted more than 400 leaders and guests from the tourism industry across the country.
